Like most things in 2020, Halloween in senior living communities had to look different – but at Fairwinds – Spokane, it was just as fun as ever. Committed to maintaining social distancing and health protocols, our team put together an outdoor festival complete with hayrides, an s’ mores station, pumpkin bowling, live music (with dancing!), hot seasonal drinks, and even a haunted house. Residents attended the event in shifts so groups were kept small and wore masks for the duration of the event.

The staff at Fairwinds – Spokane came together from across the community to create a haunted house for independent living and assisted living residents. Residents loved it! Some said it made them feel like kids again and took them back to past Halloweens with their own children. One resident even said she had never laughed so hard in her life.

“The lights were off, the room was decorated, several staff members dressed up in character and prepared for their parts. Residents received flashlights and “went in if they dared” one at a time through the Fairwinds Haunted House. There were screams and laughs and boos and jumps and more laughs.
