Exceeding Expectations at Fairwinds – Redmond

At the beginning of 2019, our PrimeFit instructor Kelly Fennelly began a “Walk Across America” contest where she planned out a year’s worth of destinations to serve as milestones to keep residents and staff motivated throughout the year.

When residents reached Florida after just two months of the contest, we realized we were going to expand our horizons. We set our eyes on Europe and started in Iceland, ending in Spain. Our residents collected miles as they walked, swam, danced at Zumba Gold, played miniature golf, balloon fitness, or did a number of other physical activities.

Resident Larey McDaniel walked 938 miles over the year. He said he participates because the event keeps him motivated and he enjoys competing with the other challengers.

Next year, our residents have their eyes set on walking across Asia. PrimeFit will be partnering with our chef to create themed lunch and dinner menus that celebrate each milestone and destination.
