- Canfield Place
Canfield Place takes every opportunity to explore the natural beauty and history right outside our door. Our residents enjoy learning about their surroundings, experiencing a range of programs in and around the local Beaverton community. Learn more about Canfield’s dynamic excursions and our recent trip to the Tualatin River Wildlife Refuge.
Every Tuesday, Canfield Place explores a new location for residents to enjoy. This time we visited the Tualatin River Wildlife Refuge for a chance to view the sites, hear an educational lecture from one of their knowledgeable docents, and finish off the afternoon with a lovely picnic outside. Our lecture equipped us with information about the different birds that inhabit the area along with the different types of nests they make and where they can be found. Prior to our lecture, our docent showed us the incredible views of the refuge. The space we witnessed was only 500 acres of the over 13,000 of its entirety.
Residents loved hearing the fun facts about the refuge’s background and history.
“It was very interesting to see all the different bird nests and eggs, I can’t believe there are so many living around here!”– Bob Lange
“The views were just incredible, seeing the white egrets and herons were so stunning, I would definitely return .” – Yvonne Miller
To top off the day, residents picnicked with a view from the lunch graciously provided by our kitchen. The weather was perfect, the views were stunning, and the informational lecture was nothing short of intriguing. We look forward to our next outing and continue learning about all this wonderful state of Oregon has to offer its citizens!
We love exploring all that Beaverton and Oregon have to offer our residents. All of our programs are open to our residents and their families. We would love for you to join us on our next adventure! Call or stop by Canfield Place to learn more.
