Leisure Care communities are not only great places to live, but they are also great places to work! We believe in providing lifelong learning opportunities for our employees where they can grow and develop their careers. We offer several professional development opportunities for employees in communities across the country. Take a closer look at one of our leadership development programs and see how one of our employees is thriving in her role at Leisure Care!
Senior living communities require talented and dedicated employees in nearly every industry. As the concept of senior living has evolved into resort-style living with endless amenities, today’s senior living communities require event planners, chefs, fitness professionals, hospitality staff, housekeeping, and even bartenders!
We know that the best way to serve our residents is by serving our employees, so we offer free leadership and development courses to encourage our residents to invest in their communities, careers, and, most importantly, themselves. Christa Clarke from Fairwinds – Spokane is one employee that has taken advantage of our Guiding, Recognizing, and Inspiring Talent (GRIT) program.
“I didn’t realize how much I missed learning. I graduated from college quite a few years ago and this program allowed me to ‘think again’. It’s been a great experience to learn new things and engage with my teammates in other communities.” – Christa Clarke, Leisure Care employee and GRIT participant
GRIT is divided into four courses; freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior course. Christa has just completed the freshman and sophomore courses and will be moving into the junior course. As part of her program, she has completed leadership courses, participated in online discussions with her peers and the Leisure Care team, and joined three online classes led by top executives at Leisure Care. She has taken a closer look at operational training content and completed a capstone project to benefit all Leisure Care communities. In her junior course, Christa will be further exposed to operational content and will lead one of the weeks of the first-year GRIT course. After that, Christa will join her Operations Leader on a site visit to another community as part of her senior course.
“Christa was a member of our Fall 2020 freshman class and has been an enthusiastic member of our sophomore class, now officially fulfilling all the requirements and graduating to the junior program. I have had the pleasure of working with Christa for the last 11 years as her General Manager and now as her Ops Leader; what fun it was to hear her contributions to the discussions throughout the freshman and sophomore portions of GRIT. I look forward to her continued growth and development personally and professionally in her career at Leisure Care. Please help me congratulate Christa on a job well done!” – Holli Korb, Operations Director
