Summer at The Village at Unity

The Village at Unity independent living, assisted living, and memory care is proud to host a summer concert series for our residents and the surrounding community. Learn more about the concert series and our most recent concerts that bring fun and music to The Village at Unity!

Some of the best ideas start napkins – and the concert series at The Village at Unity is one of them! When our radio salesperson came to pitch some air-time spots we looked out onto our spacious three-acre Village Green and realized what a great concert venue we had on our very own property!

The Village Green is our backyard, complete with walking paths, a fountain, lawn games and places to sit. We envisioned a series of music events on warm summer nights with the notes floating over the audience. We pictured residents and families, friends and the public all coming to enjoy some time together as the evening tired. And we envisioned a variety of sounds which would be memorable.

We got the ball rolling right away and halfway through the summer season we have had three Summer Concert series performances!

The first show featured the 198^th Division Army Band, rock and roll style. They played contemporary music from Journey, Hendrix, and even some Guns and Roses! The residents sang along when they knew the words and tapped their feet when they didn’t. Proceeds from the event benefitted Blue Star Mothers.

The second show was a contemporary group playing softer rock, some Eric Clapton, and a lot of Sinatra. Residents and team members danced the night away. Our third show featured a folk duo from the Finger Lakes, NY on guitar and violin playing the beautiful floating notes we had envisioned last fall.

For us here at the Village at Unity, it’s about the experience. It’s about being together, being with friends and family, and being open to new things. It’s about dancing like no one is looking and enjoying the simple things, like a charcoal-grilled hot dog, a beautiful sunset and amazing music.
